The INTELLIGENT Horizon Europe project held its second General Assembly on 4–5 November 2025, this time in Madrid, Spain. The in-person meeting of all project partners was organised and hosted by R2M Spain, the project coordinator.
The two intensive days of collaborative exchange focused on reviewing the groundwork laid during the project’s first year. This covered the key technical components of the INTELLIGENT architecture, namely a P2P and flexibility market platform with two market mechanisms (pay-as-clear and an automated market maker), AI-powered decision support tools for energy community members, a billing system and an interactive user interface.
The team at AIT Austrian Institute of Technology also presented the results of their comprehensive social analysis of the project’s pilot sites in Ireland, Switzerland and Portugal. Their work shows what people want, what concerns them and what they expect in practice. These insights will guide the way market mechanisms and AI tools are shaped so they meet the needs of prosumer communities.
A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to an in-depth technical assessment of the INTELLIGENT pilot sites. This included data readiness (led by the University of Galway), technical readiness (by the University of Cologne) and regulatory analysis (by the smartEn Smart Energy Europe team).
In addition to outlining completed and upcoming dissemination and communication activities, the InoSens team held their annual IPR workshop, covering the foundations of the project’s exploitation strategy, IPR management and business planning guidelines for consortium partners.
The next stage of the project will focus on live testing of the energy sharing and flexibility management solutions at the pilot sites. In that spirit, the next INTELLIGENT General Assembly may well take place at one of them.
