The INTELLIGENT project continues to strengthen its visibility and impact at high-level industry and energy events, contributing insights on user-centred social interventions in the energy transition. In autumn 2025, results from INTELLIGENT were presented at two international events, highlighting conditions for engaging end‑users as active participants in flexible and sustainable energy systems.
On 13 November 2025, the INTELLIGENT project was represented at the EU4Energy Workshop: Accelerating Market Integration of Renewables – Focus on Flexibility and Active Consumers, held in Paris, France, as a hybrid event. The workshop was organised by the Energy Community Secretariat (EnCS), the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the European Commission (EC).
Lisa Diamond from the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) was invited by the IEA to deliver a presentation entitled “Active Consumers in Flexible Energy Systems: User Motivations, Barriers, and Readiness for Participation.” The presentation drew on results from INTELLIGENT user survey and findings from related research projects, providing evidence‑based insights into the conditions required to involve users as active participants in flexibility markets.
The event gathered national authorities and representatives from ministries, state agencies, and national regulatory authorities (NRAs) from EU4Energy Partner Countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The discussion offered valuable input for policymakers working on the integration of renewables and consumer‑centric flexibility solutions.
INTELLIGENT was also featured at Mission Innovation Austria Week 2025, held on 9 October 2025 in Gleisdorf, Austria. At this conference, Lisa Diamond (AIT) contributed through a keynote presentation and panel participation, addressing the role of social interventions in the energy transition.
The presentation, titled “Soziale Interventionen als Vehikel der Energiewende: Menschen im Zentrum der Transformation” (English: Social interventions as a vehicle for the energy transition: People at the heart of the transformation), showcased results from several research initiatives, including INTELLIGENT. The talk emphasised conditions for the inclusion of diverse groups of end‑users and highlighted how social and behavioural approaches can support a more inclusive and effective energy transition.
The conference audience included industry representatives, business partners, innovators, national authorities, and research communities, enabling cross‑sector dialogue on how user‑centric approaches can accelerate transformation in the energy system.
Through its participation in these events, the INTELLIGENT project demonstrated its relevance beyond the research community, contributing practical insights to industry and policy discussions and reinforcing the importance of placing people at the centre of the energy transition.
