The 3rd General Assembly of the INTELLIGENT Project has concluded after two productive days hosted by Azienda Elettrica di Massagno (AEM) SA in the beautiful Ticino region of Lugano, Switzerland, on 27–28 May.
The meeting opened with a warm welcome from our host, Federico Giani (AEM), who introduced partners to the geographical and historical context of Ticino and presented AEM‘s activities as a Distribution System Operator (DSO), electricity provider, energy service company, renewable energy producer, and an organisation with a strong R&D focus. Partners also had the opportunity to explore AEM’s facilities onsite and learn more about its role in supporting local energy communities.
Laura María Pérez Caballero (R2M Spain), INTELLIGENT Project Coordinator, then presented the overall project progress achieved during the first 18 months and provided guidance for the upcoming Review Meeting. The first day continued with a User Interface Demo and Feedback Session led by R2M Italy, followed by updates from technical work packages and a workshop on Field Tests Preparation to support the planning of evaluation activities, led by the pilot site leaders.
In the afternoon, partners visited the AEM facilities in Capriasca, gaining first-hand insight into the local implementation environment. The day concluded with a social dinner in the heart of Lugano, providing an excellent opportunity for networking and informal discussions.
Day 2 focused on the next phase of project implementation. In addition to work package updates, partners participated in two dedicated technical workshops: 1. Digital Spine (EWDS) Integration with Participant Systems – led by Energy Web; and 2. Flexibility Market Development Approach – led by WP5 partners.
The meeting concluded with discussions on next steps, preparations for the Review Meeting, and continued collaboration towards delivering secure, transparent, and user-centred peer-to-peer energy sharing solutions for European energy communities.
