INTELLIGENT is an EU-funded project developing critical, cutting-edge technology to equip citizens organised in energy communities and their grid operators to deploy peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading at scale.
The project builds on Grid Singularity’s existing open-source P2P platform (GSY DEX), expanding its capabilities to avail advanced trading mechanisms such as multi-attribute auctions and effectively connect spot and flexibility markets. This ensures a wider and fairer market access for small market actors while facilitating more secure, decentralised market operations to support grid flexibility and resilience, leveraging the Energy Web data exchange infrastructure.
At the user level, INTELLIGENT introduces AI/ML-based flexibility optimisation services to improve energy efficiency and participation in local markets. Billing and payment services will also be developed, all made available as open source solutions for further development and commercialisation.
The developed solutions will be piloted in four diverse European sites, informed by social and regulatory analysis, incorporating stakeholder feedback.

We’re building and validating a fully functional technology tool to operate decentralised P2P marketplaces, anchored on the open-source GSY DEX software. Our focus is to address network constraints, enable new trading mechanisms and support multi-attribute orders to facilitate multiple user preferences.
INTELLIGENT allows for secure and privacy-embedded data integration. The Energy Web Digital Spine data management middleware enables the interaction between data analytics, machine learning forecasting, metering and grid planning services, as well as with the P2P marketplace. Energy Web’s Decentralised IDs (DID) and Verifiable Credentials (VC) will also enable tracking the green credentials of produced, traded and consumed energy throughout the supply chain.
INTELLIGENT brings a highly adaptive system for managing energy flows for local energy community members. The system is ML/AI-based, implementing optimisation methods for predicting pivotal inputs. While boosting local flexibility, it also enables accounting for preferences of community members, like energy costs, maximum exploitation of renewables, comfort needs and consumer convenience.
