Azienda Elettrica di Massagno (AEM) SA, founded in 1925, operates a hydroelectric plant, manages Medium and Low Voltage grids, and supplies electricity to 10,000 end-users in Massagno, Capriasca, and Isone, Switzerland, delivering 60 million kWh annually. Since 2007, AEM has focused on innovation, deploying its own smart grid, creating a dedicated communication network for field data, and testing flexibility management solutions. Its R&D team is developing a grid digital twin, advanced tariffs, and forecasting algorithms.
Role in the project: AEM leads Pilot 2, integrating the Lugaggia Innovation Community (LIC) into the project. Leveraging its expertise as a local DSO and energy community manager, AEM will support the design and implementation of INTELLIGENT solutions, ensuring access to community and grid data to enhance project outcomes.
